Real Stuff
Picture this, we went to a party
A spinning room and a shakey floor
We went to do what makes us happy
With closed doors and the curtains drawn
Serpentine, he was acting funny
He threw his tankard against the wall, saying
"I can't abide your squealing honey,
No one's listening anymore"
Tell me what he wore!
On the shakey floor!
Serpentine was summoned slowly
For judgement of his whole life story
When the wind was strong
Been blowing all day long
Said “you won’t see me in a hurry”
The mystic Gods were almost worried
Then the sun was gone
Been sunning all day long
Have you ever seen a face so low to the ground?
He was fine ‘til he started listening to the sound
Of the voices in his head that were bringing him down
Oh, Serpentine turn that frown upside down!
There's always some fat cat making the laws
And executives on high floors, sucking at straws
And investors in their basements looking out for
The next needle in a haystack, I’ve been here before
Settling
Settled in a hole
Settling
Settled under stone
Settling
Settled all alone

The Light

The Light
I work nights
‘cause I haven’t got a life
I can do what I like
Instead of doing right
Instead of doing right
Once I’d decided,
I hadn’t got much time left
I went and took a ride
To see my friend from the Tyne
My friend from the Tyne
He said “I know a guy
Who will take you on and guide you
You’ll be closer to the sky”
I said “take me to The Light”
He took me to The Light
I said “Hi!”
And I looked Him in the eye
I was greeted with a sigh
Should have took it as a sign
He said “you’re no friend of mine”
I have decided
That people in The Light
Are no better off than I
Just that they have been misguided
They have been misguided

On The Roadside
On the roadside
Don't want to talk about it
All hunkered down
Nothing to talk about
Need to update, looking for an upgrade
Find real estate, find something to renovate
All the people waiting for the
Chance to take a shortcut
Guaranteed some bricks and mortar
When some people don't have water
On the roadside
Kept falling down
No sunlight
Can't seem to work it out
All the people waiting for the
Change to take a shortcut
Guaranteed some bricks and mortar
When some people don't have water
And all the people start to form
An angry mob to start the next war
Guaranteed some bricks and mortar
When some people don't have water

Meanderings
You show your face and the sky turns grey
Like those days when everyone is in your way
Is there anything more to you? What do you contribute?
Slaving away for deaf ears and stale brains
I want to nail it but it's always the same
Maybe I'm just here to float ideas
But you bent me til I learnt how to break
Turn the page, for goodness sake
Like those days when everyone is in your way
Is there anything left in you? What does it constitute?
Slaving away for one chance to play the game
I know you're trying but your effort's in vain
Maybe I'm just here to float ideas
But you bent me til I learnt how to break
Is there anything left to say?
Like those days when everyone is in your way
Have you anything left to lose? Am I your substitute?
The chances are high and I hear you say "come what may"
I want to nail but it's always the same
Maybe I'm just here to prove I care
But you bent me til I learnt how to break
